Forget prudence these make-up trends from the hottest catwalks around the world are all about making a statement. Here are some of the latest looks from the world of make-up...
Slated:
Industrial metals, overcast silver, ashen, pewter, lead, aluminium are all part of the Slated trend. Eye shadows overpower in a Star Wars kind of way, and smoky charcoal eyes replace eyeliner. Whether the shadows on just the top of the eye or top and bottom it's all ultra cool.
Sculpt:
Whatever the weather (or the season) designers love to pair their collection with make-up that looks utterly effortless — healthly and honed. And with this season's kaleidoscope clothing, heavy make-up would only cheapen the look. It's barley there, but it isn't basic in the make-up stakes. Studiously sculptured and definitely textured (wet gloss with satin or matte), it's naturally refined make-up — not raw. Think peach powder and wet lips with clear gloss, as well as naked eyes…
Alabaster:
A sparse, abino-esque edge that white brings to make-up is one of this summer's key beauty references. From spectral, luminous snowy tints that give the skin a translucent wattage, to opaque primer effect whites that strike a more graphic note. It's pure, modern, minimalist. Think of using white in unconventional parts of the face like inner corners of the eye and down the sides of the nose, contrasted with deep purple or red lips…
Flesh metal:
The look is butter-kissed, burnished in honey and muted metals. From barely gleaming oatcake to bronze leaf, a bullion air directs this make-up look. Think platinum, taupe and sand-washed tones. Cheekbones glimmer with blush crème and simmering powder, while plush mascara is added to lashes, and lips are full and glossy.
Acrylic:
From laminate-bright lips that do all the talking to eyes popping in tropical shadows, too much is never enough this season. The secret is that one feature is highlighted. A loud mouth in bright pink or red contrasted with bare eyes, or over-defined eyes in blues and purples with glossy translucent lip-colour.
