We've shared their ups and downs as newly-weds and agonised when their marriage went through difficult times. Needless to say, the Buchmans are an interesting couple.
Helen Hunt may have an Oscar on her mantelpiece, but she stuck with the appealing show right up until the fall of the final curtain. Hunt and the show's co-creator, Paul Reiser, are loveable as Jamie and Paul Buchman, a young urban couple trying to sustain their marital bliss while side-stepping the hurdles of love in the 90s.
Paul, a documentary filmmaker, is charming and creative, but slightly less daring than Jamie, who is more of a romantic free spirit.
With the birth of their baby, Mabel, Jamie and Paul have reached another plateau in their marriage as they continue to assess the ground rules of their life together. At the end of last season, we saw Jamie and Paul grappling with a new set of ground rules, those of expectant parents. This season has been a whole new ball-game as mommy, daddy, and Murray - the family dog - find themselves welcoming baby Buchman into the household.
Sharing Jamie and Paul's life, not to mention their laundry room, is Jamie's scattered sister, Lisa Stemple (Anne Ramsay). Cousin Ira (John Pankow) is Paul's closest friend and confidante and owner of the family business, Buchman Sporting Goods.
In addition, Jamie's and Paul's parents contribute the usual frustration to their lives, especially Paul's mother, who cannot quite come to terms with Jamie.
During its multiple season run, 'Mad About You' has been honoured with Golden Globe Awards, a Peabody Award, a Genesis Award, multiple Emmy nominations and was chosen Best Quality Comedy by the Viewers for Quality Television.
