Amy Winehouse was taken to hospital after fainting at her home in London on Monday.

The 24-year-old was taken to a private hospital by her father Mitch as a precaution.

"Amy was at home this afternoon when she briefly fainted," her spokesperson said.

"Fortunately, her manager's assistant was there to stop her falling.

"She quickly recovered and her father, Mitch, took her to hospital as a precaution. Doctors are unsure of the cause of the incident and Amy is currently undergoing tests."

Winehouse, who won five Grammy awards in February, was taken to London Clinic in Marylebone.

Her father, a taxi driver, has frequently expressed concerns about the 'Rehab' singer's lifestyle. Earlier this year she was seen taking ecstasy and cocaine in a video revealed by a tabloid.

Winehouse's husband is currently in jail and facing a prison term if found guilty of attacking a pub landlord and perverting the course of justice.

Winehouse fainted as she was about to go out and sign autographs for a group of Canadian fans who had been outside her home for much of the day. She passed on when she discovered that they'd gone.
