Stars of the hit 'Ocean's 11' film trilogy have paid tribute to actor Bernie Mac, who died on Saturday.

The 50-year-old comedian, who played blackjack dealer Frank Catton in the popular movie series, had been battling pneumonia for two weeks.

Co-star George Clooney, who took on the role of heist co-ordinator Danny Ocean, said of his colleague's death: "The world just got a little less funny. He will be missed dearly."

Fellow castmate Brad Pitt, the film's food obsessed conman Robert "Rusty" Ryan, added: "I lament the loss of a ferociously funny and hardcore family man.

"My thoughts are with his wife Rhonda and their family. Bernie Mac, you are already missed."

Samuel L. Jackson, who will appear alongside Mac in upcoming release ‘Soul Men’, shared the sentiment of the 'Ocean's 11' pair.

He stated: "Bernie was one of the pre-eminent comedians of our generation. I feel so blessed to have shared so many years of friendship with such a great man."
