Gillian Anderson says she is not very ambitious.
The ‘X-Files: I Want To Believe’ actress claims she decided not to put as much energy into her career as many other Hollywood actresses because she does not enjoy the trappings of fame.
She said: “By choosing not to be as ambitious as I might have been, I get to go to a restaurant with my family, and there are no cameras around the corner.
“And I don’t have to worry about the car being chased or being involved in an accident.”
When the hugely popular TV show ‘The X-Files’ ended, Gillian moved from Hollywood to London, even though she knew it might harm her career.
The actress claims her decision was the right one as it allowed her to have a more varied professional life, and retain a degree of privacy for her family.
Anderson— who has two children, 13-year-old Piper and 21-month-old Oscar — said: “By moving to London, I removed myself from the madness of the entertainment industry.
I love the city, the culture, and the opportunity to bring my children up in a more sane environment.
“One of the great things about living in Europe is that there’s no stigma about jumping between different media — I get to do film, theatre and, occasionally, television.”
