'The X Files' star David Duchovny claims that he once saw a UFO.

The 47-year-old actor, who plays Special Agent Fox Mulder in the hit series and upcoming new film, is said to have seen a mysterious flying object in the sky 26 years ago.

He said: "I believe I saw a UFO once, about 1982, but I don’t know what it was. I saw something in the sky that disappeared. I was having a hard time then, you know, life.

"There was something in the air and it was gone. I thought: 'You've got to get some rest David.'"

Meanwhile, David's co-star Gillian Anderson has expressed her love for BBC motoring show, 'Top Gear'.

She told Jay Leno on the 'Tonight Show': "They’ve got these great guys who perform stunts, like race Bugattis against planes. It's amazing."

'The X Files: I Want To Believe' sees the famous duo team up once again, with Anderson reprising her role as Special Agent Dana Scully, and is due for release in South Africa on 1 August.
