Some of Hollywood’s most iconic movie props will be up for sale in a unique auction at the end of the month.

Film buffs will have the opportunity to bid on memorabilia from their favourite big screen blockbusters, including the Holy Grail which appears in 'Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade', the axe used by Jack Nicholson's character in 'The Shining', and the tablets given to Charlton Heston's Moses in 1956's 'The Ten Commandments'.

The massive sale, which will take place in California on 31 July and 1 August, is set to feature a fearsome creature from 'Alien 3', Michael J Fox's original 'Back To The Future' hoverboard, as well as a T.I.E. Fighter from the first 'Star Wars' film.

Various costumes are also up for grabs among the 1000 items going under the hammer. Christopher Reeves' Superman suit, Tobey Maguire's Spiderman mask, Ben Affleck's Daredevil outfit, and Dr. Evil and Mini Me's spacesuits from 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me' are all expected to be snapped up for thousands of dollars.

Joseph Maddelena, president of Profiles In History who are running the auction, said: "This sale features more than 1000 unique pieces of Hollywood history, from the silent era through to modern sci-fi classics and everything in between.

"You’ll also find a wonderful collection of original design maquettes and screen-used visual effects creatures and puppets of some of the most iconic characters ever created for film."
