American rock band The Killers have ventured deep into the world of pop on their new album, for which they collaborated with British producer Stuart Price.

Said to have drawn inspiration from bands including the Pet Shop Boys, The Killers joined up with Price — who is generally associated with Madonna and Seal — to create a new, more glammed up sound by using steel drums and even adding cheesy saxophone solos.

Said 27-year-old frontman Brandon Flowers of how they went about working with 31-year-old old Price: "We’d provide the meat and potatoes and Stuart would add, like, the landscapes and galaxy that surrounds it."

He also explained how the single for new album 'Day & Age', called 'Human', was recorded in a flash with Price's help.

"We had dinner with Stuart in London," Flowers said.

"Afterwards we went to his house. He has a studio, and in two hours we recorded 'Human'.

"We just knew it sounded so good. We did it and we just couldn't tamper with it at all, 'cos it just sounded perfect.

"It's like Johnny Cash meets the Pet Shop Boys."

'Day & Age' is set for release in November of this year.
