Looks as if her friends also think she's turned over that proverbial new leaf. A chum of hers, quoted in the New York Daily News, remarked that "Lindsay is learning how to work through her addictions and, once in a while, she chooses to have a cocktail. People over-exaggerate her behaviour when in fact on Friday night, many people commented to her on how composed she was." Maybe so — though she is working off a pretty low base.
Things are obviously not nearly so rosy for Britney Spears — who's being buffeted by a media storm, as the press try to find out all the details of her ongoing custody battle with Kevin Federline, her father's temporary legal control over her, the Spears family's retraining order against her former friend and manger Sam Lutfi, and of course her clearly serious mental illness.
All the rumours are that she suffers from bi-polar disorder, which is very treatable, but that she hasn't been taking her medication regularly and has let herself get into a really bad way. I hope she gets all the help she needs to recover and gain back access to her boys.
More really sad celeb news… the medical examiner has just released her findings into Heath Ledger's death.
The conclusion is that he died from a lethal combination of prescription drugs, including pain-killers, anti-anxiety medication and sleeping pills — and all of them at relatively low dosages.
Says Ledger's father Kim: "While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy."
Everyone in New York was absolutely stunned when we found out that one of the city's most famous residents had died. It's pretty heartbreaking.
There is some happier celeb news out there, though. Christina Aguilera, for one, is a very happy new mother to Max Liron, and she's just given her first interview since she gave birth, to 'American Idol' presenter Ryan Seacrest.
Completely coincidentally, she also happens to be marketing a new concert DVD… "It marks a special occasion. It's so weird to watch the DVD back and know that I was pregnant with this little guy in my belly," she says.
"It's special and something I wanted to share with my fans and be there with them on the release." And as for life with a little one: "Every week something new happens. He's constantly changing and doing these incredibly cute things and stinky things." Ah — fascinating.
And I'll be back with more such star gems — in next week's 'Bitch and Famous'!
