The Energy Intensive User Group SA (EIUG) is waiting for a meeting
date with Eskom's CEO to get clarity on its power availability after
the utility's decision to suspend scheduled load shedding, a technical
consultant at the group's secretariat said on Monday.
"We want to be able to plan ahead," said Paul van Niekerk.
Eskom's Chief Executive Officer Jacob Maroga recently announced that
from 5 May, scheduled load shedding would be suspended because of
increased savings from municipalities.
Van Niekerk said that members needed to determine what the position
was to decide on how to go ahead with future projects and production.
The EIUG is an association of large scale, high intensity energy
consumers whose members account for 40 percent of electricity used in
the country.
