A fire broke out at a textile factory in Derdepoort, Waltloo, Tswane fire services said on Monday.

Spokesperson Jan Peterson said the fire brigade were called to the factory on Concordia Street on Sunday night.

He said it took about 20 firemen an hour and a half to extinguish the fire.

Peterson said the textile factory manufactured socks and T-shirts.

He put the value of goods lost at millions.

Peterson said the cause of the fire was not known.
