Retailer Woolworths and the South African Commercial, Catering and Allied Workers' Union (Saccawu) have agreed to meet in a new attempt to seek a resolution to the current strike, the union said on Wednesday.
Woolies workers have been on strike for the three weeks demanding that the company recognise Saccawu.
The strike has been largely ineffective, with Woolies saying that all stores had remained opened and that less than five percent of employees heeded the union's call.
The two parties met on Monday and Tuesday.
"While much progress has been made over the two days, there was no agreement on two issues central to the current strike," the union said.
The issues are the conclusion of an access and stop order agreement and the duration of the verification and the return to work date.
The parties agreed to return to their principals to seek a renewal of their mandates on these two issues, and will revert to each other shortly, the union said.
The strike and calls for a consumer boycott continue.
