A strike by workers at Pamodzi Gold on the East Rand has ended following an agreement on wages increases, Pamodzi Gold's spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
Bongi Radebe said the National Union of Mineworkers and Pamodzi Gold reached an amicable agreement on the wage demands.
"In addition to the 14 percent increase in their basic salaries, the employees will receive an eight percent increase on provident fund contributions and a 44 percent increase on living out allowances,'' Radebe said.
She said the new settlement brought into effect a wage deal that Pamodzi Gold had initially put on the table.
"Since taking over the employees from the contractor in October 2007 we have been exploring with possible options to achieve pay equity and introduce measures to address the wage gap," she said.
She said the union and management would meet to discuss ways of catching up with lost production and improving productivity.
